Yellowstone or Moscow

Updated

We are supposed to leave for Yellowstone next Friday. But now we are in a kind of dilemma. Tim's fren balloted successfully for a pair of tix to the Champions League final in Moscow. Liverpool, the team, his fren supports, did not make it to the final. But Man U did! Yippee! He offered to sell Tim the tix a few days ago at face value. Tim declined the offer...One of the reasons was the difficulty in gettin the visa processed on time.

But with the recent announcement that tourist visa might be waived for tix holder who stays in the country for only 72 hours, Tim is suddenly all excited about going. He called his fren up but the tix have since been put on sale on an online auction.

Here's the list of things that will make the trip possible:

1. SIA airtix to Moscow is only US$750. Other airline tix cost at least US$2k. It is relatively cheaper because SIA just started a direct flight from Houston to Singapore with a stopover in Moscow in March.
2. We got our leave booked all along - for Yellowstone that is.
3. We have a fren who is willing to sell us the tix at face value

Things that work against us:

1. The tix might be sold afterall. Last heard, a pair of tix can go as high as 2,000 pounds.
2. There is no accommodation available in Moscow. Most of the establishments have been booked solid.
3. We will be "flying" pegster and Ms Mok "aeroplane" if we choose to go to Moscow now.
4. Visa might not be waived for all nationalities.
5. According to 2007 Mercer report, Moscow is the most expensive city in the world. It will cost us a bomb to stay there even for a couple of days. What's more, we are thinking of just paying for the tourist visa and staying here for all 10 days of our leave. hee.

Update: We are going Yellowstone! Nevertheless, we will still look for a place to watch tha match, although that might be hard considering we will be in a National Park and none of our accomodation have internet access or TV.
