Long Weekend!!
Oh yes!! THe National Day Weekend is finally here.. with Monday being a public holiday next week, i'm sure everyone out there has lotsa plans for this brilliant weekend.. including me! Well anyway i just got back from camp... so sianz to go back yet again on Saturday.. but then again its my last coz next week Saturday training has been cancelled..... woohoo!!!
Didn't get to blog last night coz i was staying over at Sharon's place... made more sense to do so coz i had to go back camp this morning, and because we watched a late movie last night. Caught this Tom Cruise flick called Collateral! Yes yes i know.. i was supposed to catch Fahrenheit 9/11 one... but the movie was so hot that Sharon couldn't get tix online even though she tried before lunch! The hype that this movie is generating is really crazy man....
Back to Collateral... it's a really interesting flick about a hitman, Vincent (played by Tom Cruise) who goes around town doing "his job" and an innocent taxi driver, Max (Jamie Foxx) who's unwittingly roped into Vincent's world. The film focuses on the situations that these 2 find themselves in, and there are many nice comedic moments that blend well with the suspenseful ones whereby you never really know what's going to happen next. The helpless Max reminds me alot of Denzel Washington in Out Of Time, where he has to find means and ways to weasel himself out of impossible situations....
All in all, Collateral is a good show, with a good riveting plot, but made even better by the acting of Tom Cruise (he finally looks old with the aging hair and stubble) and Jamie Foxx (who's pretty much a natural comedian)... in case you didn't know, Jada Pinkett (Will Smith's wife) is also in on the show. Vincent's character is really well-played by Tom Cruise, whos gives him that "cool-murderer" look (Almost like Christian Bale in American Psycho). Flaws that the show might have, well there are some scenes that take just a tad bit too long.. so it might seem a little draggy here and there.. but these mostly lead to the interesting stuff like gunfights and stuff, so there's not much to worry about it being a boring show.
Tim's Movie Rating - Collateral ====> 3.5/5
Fun and witty show with a little suspense thrown in for good measure. Tom Cruise fits the bill well as a hitman and Jamie Foxx as the taxi driver who gets him around. Make sure you catch Tom Cruise finally acting like an old dude, yet displaying the quick reactions of a 20-year-old. Amazing.
"Old yet stylish... Tom Cruise for you."
