Brotherhood...

What a taxing day i've had... of the 9 hours i spent in camp today (830-530), half of it was spent either eating, pooling, sleeping or going online. Very taxing coz it's not easy to bum for almost half the day man... but of course, i'm not really complaining am i? Haha.... Sharon and I managed to catch Chris and Peiwen for dinner today at Cafe Cartel at City Hall. Peiwen was only back just last week from a 3-week business trip in China, so it was great to see that she's still looking the same as before... although she might just be a little more cheena-pok now... I have to say that the Pork Chops, Spare Ribs and Tandoori Chicken there really rocked!!! But the stuff that i ordered.. a Cartel Fiesta Pizza (or something like dat...), was just ordinary stuff. Really jealous looking at the food on their plates....

Sharon and I did a fair bit of gobbling though, as today was our Free Movie Day!! As such we rushed off to GV after dinner and made it for today's show, a Korean one called Brotherhood! Heard from a few friends that it was quite a long and touching show.. but i had to see for myself to be sure.

As some of you might already know, it's a tale about two brothers caught in the Korean War in the 1950s. We see how their brotherly love (which actualy looks gayish if they weren't brothers... i mean they actually SHARE an ice cream!!!) gets tangled in the brutal realism of war and we follow their journey throughout the war, which takes them into many life-and-death moments, enemy lines, crossfires and pretty much everything else u would expect in a war flick. Now, i must say, for a Korean movie, this show really had quite a good deal of war-time effects that could match the best hollywood has to offer... however, some of these battle scenes were overly long and didn't serve much purpose and this kinda made the momentum drift away a little bit compared to the beginning when the whole story seemed to be shaping up really well.

The idea of 2 brothers being needlessly and helplessly caught in the war was more than captivating actually, as there are many situations they find themselves in which question what they are fighting for and to what avail. More than a few tears were shed throughout the course of this movie, which had it's fair share of dramatic moments. In my opinion, it's quite a nice show, altho it has its flaws as mentioned earlier, plus the editing seemed a little bit slipshod at times.... in summary though, it's a film worth catching.. espicially since there aren't many nice movies at the moment!

Tim's Movie Rating - Brotherhood ====> 3.5/5
Interesting war movie with a nice underlying tale of brotherly love. Don't get too caught up in the fighting scenes though... and i think lotsa gals will dig Won Bin.

*Braces Update
Been a week exactly since i first put on the braces. Initial pain of having something cold and steely in my mouth has already been overcome.. but i'm still having problems eating solid food which requires alot of biting. These includes stuff like nuts, beef and crab... that's why i have been losing quite a bit of weight the past week. Argh... on a plus point though, my appetite is picking up, with me having an average of 5 meals a day since i have lots of canteen breaks nowadays!
