National Day!!

Happy National Day to all you Singaporeans out there man!!! Yes it's coming to the end of the day but it's never too late to celebrate right? Haha... on a more serious note.... the Long Weekend is over!!!!! Back to reality man... haiz....

Morning Soccer
The morning of course, started with our weekly soccer session at NIE in NTU.... nothing too diff about today exceot that we finally got to see Mr Ho Kee Hoe again!! It's been some time since we've seen his injury-prone ass man... hahah... Sadly, due to his presence there were a few bust-ups which i felt was waaaaay Out-Of-Point. Qunwei the brave somehow managed to get in a scuffle with Kee Hoe and got so hot that it almost seemed like a fight was gonna break out.... Things did settle down after talking to Qunwei but i felt that as friends playing with each other every week, there's really no need at all to get so touchy about fouls and stuff as we all know we aren't going out to hurt each other right?? Anyway the game wasn't the same after that as we all took precautions not to provoke him anymore.... took alot out of the game and i really hope it doesn't end up like that every week man....

NDP Parade 2004
Of course, next up after my soccer session was the NDP parade!!! Sharon's colleague managed to get tix for the both of us... if she's reading this, THANK YOU!!!! We met early, about 3pm and went to try and get good seats. Sadly, the seating usherers were just too good (now THAT'S a first...) and we were forced to comply and sit in an orderly manner filling up the available places first... meaning that we couldn't choose to be nearer to the action even though we were pretty early. Still, our view wasn't too bad and we got to se most of the parade quite clearly!

I have to say that being at the parade, i really felt very very patriotic. For those of you who have not been to the parade, you should try your best to get ur hands on the tix and go at least ONCE in your life. Never knew myself as the patriotic sort but being at the occasion, soaking in the atmosphere, seeing the uncles, aunties, grannies and gramps getting all excited at everything... it makes you feel really proud to be a Singaporean. Of course, being a Singaporean isn't about going to parades only, but the fact is that being there makes you feel like you're part of something special... and if you think about it, you really ARE. Isn't Singapore a great place to live in? Think about how far we have come... your way of life..... your education...your parents... your friends... all these shouldn't be taken for granted. There aren't many countries in this world that can consider themselves as sophisticated and civilised as us... so give it a thought right now.. and thank your lucky stars that you're in a really great country.

BUT.....
Talking about civilised, i almost died after finishing with the parade. After all the good natured singing about harmony and such, after the fireworks and everyone feeling proud of their country, it was BACK to the Ugly Singaporean. It was back to jostling, shoving and pushing as everyone tried to make their way out of the stadium and to the MRT. Took me a painful 1 and a half hours just to walk that short distance, and along the way, i could see inconsiderate people barging their way around and making noises and complaining whenever we had to stop for traffic lights! Argh... i guess Singaporeans will never change..... it's a characteristic trait which i feel will always be there...always thinking about oneself first instead of others.... oh well... STILL, i love my Singapore!!!!

*New Blog Update
By the way, my good friend Jo has come up with a blog of his own. For those of you single women/men/gays who might wanna know this self-proclaimed intellectual, you can check out his blog. The link is on the left of my screen. Really interesting guy and it'd be good to find out what goes on in that weird brain of his..... 8 years i've known him and i STILL don't.
