Wonders of Friendster

An ex-colleague recommended her wedding videographer to me. Knowing that my ex-colleague has exquisite taste, we made an appointment to meet up with the videographer. After looking at his work, Tim and I were impressed. We got a quotation from him. Although the price was way above our budget, Tim and I were more or less settled on getting him to do the videography for our actual day. Even so, we wanted to do a little more research to find out more about his work as well as about other videographers, so we left.

When I got home, trying to find out if there are any reviews online about his work, I googled the name of his shop. The shop’s name popped up in Friendster. I clicked on it.

I wasn’t logged out of my Friendster account even though I haven’t accessed it in the past few days. Seeing that I have friends who are connected to him one way or another, I clicked on the link “How you’re connected”.

One familiar name popped up. Apparently the videographer is a friend of our girlfriend whom Tim is pretty close to. So I immediately told Tim about it. He checked with this particular girlfriend and found out that she knows the videographer pretty well. So being ever so helpful, she immediately called up the videographer to ask for discount on our behalf.

And she really managed to help us save a couple of hundreds! Well, this is the wonder of Friendster in monetary terms for you.
