And so it begins....
The first weekend of the new EPL season is finally over... just caught the United - Chelsea game so really not in the mood to say much.... All i can mention so far is that Arsenal still look disgustingly good and their 4-1 away trashing of Everton should be the battle cry to all of the Championship wannabes this year...
Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd
The game wasn't as exciting as most people expected it to be... with only a handful of shots on targets (none for United if i can remember correctly). All it took for Chelsea to win it was an error from Fortune and Drogba's nicely headed pass allowed Eidur (dun wanna spell his last name) to easily lob Tim Howard.
"Keane's tackles always sent people flying..."
United weren't really overawed by Chelsea's superstar team, and managed to get quite a fair share of possession in the 2nd half. However, what really disappointed me was the fact that they really really looked devoid of ideas upfront. Lots of nonsense crossing and redundant passing into crowded areas resulted in us not getting even the slightest hint of a goal. Not a good start, not a good result, not a good performance, more people will be jumping on the "United-is-gone" bandwagon, but i'm still positive it'll be a good season for us. A loss on the opening day doesn't mean it's all over, with 37 more games to play for man... we'll see how we fare next week against Norwich!!
Plus Points from the game
- Smith's holding-up ability, although he disappeared a bit toward the end.
- Liam Miller looks pretty confident although he still needs a bit of polishing.
- Keano bringing a bit of calmness in the defence.
- Neville's overlapping runs and crosses.
Minuses
- What attack?!
- Fortune's misfortunate judgement that resulted in the goal.
- Tim was too easily beaten.
- Fortune's crossing.
- Losing to Chelsea when they weren't even playing well.
- Ryan Giggs is balding.
PS: To top it all off, PwC was trashed 5-2 today, and i played the whole game, so the only person i can blame is.... Yee Chung.
What a sad day....
