ASS Jay Ai...

Very nostalgic day today.... met up with 3 of my good SJI friends from many years ago... 9 to be exact since our graduation year. It's been a long time since we've met up like this, and seeing all of us together made me feel a strong sense of nostalgia.... haiz... Anyway here's the lowdown on the 4 of them:

Leon Wong - Been same class as me since Sec 1, never afraid to show his feelings (ie. telling our form tutor Mrs Seah that he doesn't like her face), sometimes moody, but most times crazy. Kinda explains why he does Mass Communication and is a copywriter now.

Kelvin Lim - Ok a lot of my friends know this dude. With his outgoing personality which never fails to charm both guys and girls alike, he's never far from contact with me. Studying 2 degrees in the US has made him the person that he is now and is already on his road to success in the near future.

Ignatius Ma - Close friend from Sec 3 & 4. Used to watch chinese MTVs (Charilie Yeung!??!) and Man Utd together. Best known as the "linkman" between me and my first ever crush, Melissa Thng. Good to see that he's doing well now.. in insurance.. although seeing him in a shirt and tie never really looked rite. Eh wait a minute... tts what lotsa people say abt me too.....

And so, the 4 of us went to eat at this Porridge place at The Oasis (Kallang). Nice oriental style place with tasty dishes to go with free-flow porridge!! After eating and catching up, we decided on the next item on our agenda.... watch a movie!! (Just like the good ol' days...)

Yes... that was the movie we decided to catch. Went down to Plaza to get 930 tix, but as today was the opening day, only 2nd row seats were available!!! Everyone was hesitant then... but me, being the stubborn person that i am, managed to convince them into it. In the end we got tix for 2nd row SIDE seats.... almost made us feel like we were watching someone else's flat-screen TV from the side!! Argh!!!

Anyway, regarding the show, i guess it was quite a big disappointment. I'm sure many fans of Aliens and Predator out there were waiting anxiously for this show to finally hit the screens.. but the movie turned out to be a bit of a dud if you ask me. Firstly, the show is pretty short... slightly over 1 1/2 hours if i can remember correctly... and the first part of it was showing a group of "supposedly" intelligent people making their way to an underground pyramid. Why SUPPOSEDLY u ask me? Well.. as we saw in a recent episode of Friends, Joey would call people like these Dumb Smart People. Haha... people who are seemingly intelligent but spout alot of nonsense at the wrong times... (take for example: "The enemy.. of my enemy... is my Friend?!?!?!?") Weird....

Fighting scenes were pretty ok.. although Predator looks a little inflexible if you ask me... some of the bullet motion techniques were used again here for a little bit of drama with the face huggers but that's about it. Funny thing though, for a monster action movie like this, the crowd sure found alot of comical scenes to laugh at..... I'm telling you, there are really certain scenes which are either so cheesy or corny that u have no choice but to break out in laughter.. seriously!!!



Tim's Movie Rating - Aliens vs Predator
====> 2/5 (as an action film), 2.5/5 (as a monster comedy)
The great battle of our time... Aliens vs Predator... with human beings being whacked like tennis balls in this see saw match up. It's not a bad action movie if you try to forget about the dumb humans, the wussy Predator, the excellent comic timing, the cheesy script, erm.. well.. pretty much everything... except the Aliens of course. They still rock!
