BLADE!!

Yes.. Blade... no not talking about the Vampire movie starring Wesley Snipes, but rather the new hobby i've taken an interest in... Rollerblading!!! Never ever gave much thought to picking up blading before but last Sat, Wen and Jo jioed me down to East Coast to give it a shot and i gladly obliged..... I must say after putting on my blades, i felt like a baby trying to learn how to walk again... really looked absolutely ridiculous just getting off my seat and trying to get on the track!! However, once i got onto the track and managed to keep my footing, it became quite easy to move... well.. forward at least. Think it's the experience from my ice-skating days, which was years ago.... After getting into the groove, moving wasn't a problem, but i must say braking and turning is really really hard... even ran myself off the track and fell into a grass patch just to avoid 2 dodo U-turning cyclists!! Argh!!! Amazingly though, that was my only fall of the afternoon....

I must say blading is really fun though... it's very very relaxing gliding by (when you're confident enough not to look at the road of coz...), and u get to see many people walking their dogs, families having picnics, babes blading along too, and many friends along the way too!! Managed to spot Cherlyn (my Mambo buddy), Jamie and Dionne (my hall seniors)... all in all it really felt great just blading along the route.. even if it was up and down the track. I'm quite positive i'll be back there again, although i'm not sure if i'm as crazy as Wen to go and buy a pair of blades for 3o0 bugs.... Jo's starting to get good too.. can't let him get THAT much better than me... hee... Who knows though, this rollerblading stuff might add another aspect to my one-dimensional soccer life! :P

Soccer Stuff
On the soccerfront though, it's not been a really good weekend for me... haiz. First of all, on Saturday, United almost (and i mean almost as in by the skin of their teeth) lost to Blackburn. United put in a good performance, creating chance after chance, but an inspired Brad Friedel managed to keep everything out... everything except Smith's 94th minute goal of course.. and i'm, not gonna talk abt Saha's handball assist!! The way we wasted chances made it more and more obvious that Rooney HAD to come... i'm still having my doubts abt him though honestly, and i'll save my comments for when the transfer is confirmed.. IF it is of course. On a brighter note for the Saturday though, I won $8 in the Fellowship. Mel looks like he's contributing lots man.. but big big winners this time was Tyco Stan and "2-1" GYC.

Then of course, there was the Bank Holiday fixture today between United and Everton. Really thought United could close the gap on their title rivals today with 3 easy points but alas... it was not to be. The team in red were really really REALLY lost today, despite playing at home... and with Fletcher and Kleberson conspiring to give the ball away often in crucial areas, we were made to look really less than ordinary and this doesn't bode well, seeing Arsenal literally cruise through their first 4 matches. The dour and unexciting match ended 0-0, with United really lucky not to have given away a penalty when Silvestre decided to repeat Saha's weekend volleyball heroics in his own penalty box. Luck was on our side but seriously, United need more than just luck if they are to prove themselves of being capable of winning anything this season. The only plus points i can think of from today's game though, is Smith's never ending commitment and running (he almost scored again), and Jonathan Spector. Now this is a dude who really looks like he's gonna make the grade... doing so much better than O' Shea and Silvestre (who had a stinker today) on the left of defence.

"Now THIS is a position you don't see in the Kamasutra..."

As a fan, it really really hurts, not just when you've lost points but more importantly, when you see your team playing crap and losing it on the pitch. I know they are capable of much much more and i really hope this 2 week break will wake up their ideas. Whether Roo comes is another matter altogether, coz they've really got to put in more effort and spirit in the next few games. No matter what though, i'm still behind em all the way.... all teams go thru rough patches... and this is one i'm sure we'll get out from soon enough.

Oh yes, by the way, LnE rocks. Life in the office is goooooooooooood....
