The Story of Peanuts.
Let me tell you about a funny story. A very very very funny story which happened to me yesterday... so funny that Qunwei is still laughing even now i think.... basket.
Anyway here i was in office, minding my own business and trying to look busy, when i received an email from HR. My pay for October had been calculated and i needed to go down to verify the details... YAY! Last i heard from Qunwei was that he was getting $1k for 5 working days coz his last day is this Friday, so understandably i was looking forward to seeing how much my last pay cheque would be.... and so i went down to the infamous 10th floor...
Now here i am at HR, and there was the lady i was supposed to speak to, Jeame Tan (yes that's how this Jeame is spelt!). Here goes nothing....
*********
Tim: Hi good morning Jeame!
Jeame: Err... good morning. Who are you?
Tim: Timothy Ho Chin Pang! Here to check on my pay computation man.... (yup a bit of American lingo here and there now)
Jeame: Oh... Timothy.. the resignee ah (man that felt good).... ok hold on.... here it is.
*hands a slip of paper to Tim*
Cue 10 seconds of Shock and Awe for Tim. Ok make that 20 actually.
Tim: *takes a deep breath* Ahem... erm.. Jeame, so this is the final computation, which means that it's the last cheque i receive on my last day is it? *gulp*
Jeame: Yup! (with a smile... why da hell is she smiling?!?!!?)
Tim: And you're sure, that this is the exact amount? No error? Confirmed?
Jeame: Yup! (still smiling... argh...)
Tim: Ok you have a calculator here that i can use?
Jeame: Sure.. here you go. You can double check the figures.... (well of course... and PLEASE let there be an error!)
*hands Tim an old calculator*
Cue 5 mins of ferocious calculating by Tim. Out of which only 30 secs was effective calculation on the figures. The rest of the time was just him keying in the same figures again and again hoping for a miracle.
Tim: Erm... can i go up and check on the amount of advance leave i've taken? I don't remember taking 7 days. (actually i do.... Taiwan la....)
Jeame: No problem. Just come back later to sign when you're sure!
Cue 10 minutes of Tim going upstairs to stare at his laptop. Eyes fixed on the 7 advance days of leave he clearly took. Haiz.
Tim: Hi Jeame. Yes the calculations are correct. I'll sign it now.
Jeame: *smiling yet again* Ok then, here it is! (i could've sworn i heard a snigger...)
*Tim signs reluctantly on the dotted line*
THE END
Now. What am i supposed to do... with 33 bugs?!?!?!!??!?!!?
Fast Facts:
- This equates to $4.70 earned each working day.
- McDonald's aunties and uncles probably earn as much, PER HOUR.
- Using yesterday's closing price of $1.95 for a pack of good quality peanuts, i can buy 2 packs a day to last me for 3 meals.
- I forgot to deduct the $10 charity donation i made at Dinner and Dance. Fug.
