*ALERT* *ALERT*

Someone has hacked into my blog and managed to place some ridiculous postings in here!! Please disregard the last few useless posts as the person has obviously tried his/her best to ruin my blog by writing stuff that is... *GULP*... NOT about ME!!!!! I'm still trying to find out who the hell it is but based on eyewitness accounts, the person has a round face, frizzy hair, and panda eyes. I used photoshop and came up with this rough image of the supposed culprit:

HAHAHAH... look forward to more postings from her man... :P

Anyway I hope you guys have been having fun in Singapore yeah? Chinese New Year's comin' and i think i'm really REALLY gonna miss being with my family on those visiting trips... not to mention the Prawn Rolls, Love Letters, Pineapple Tarts and of course.. the ANG BAOS!!! Now that i'm here i can only collect from Che Shen (Car God) Wen and wifey Celia... they'd better not disappoint all the Singaporeans here man!

For myself, workwise, it is peak period here and i am doing REAL work now. When i say REAL work, i mean slogging till LATE. And when i say LATE i mean... erm... 8pm... damn that's really really late... hehehe... For the benefit of those of you still in PwC, we have cubicles here where we book anytime (it's called hotelling), and a cube is yours! They even place your name on it so no one can take it while it's booked! Cool eh?? There is a downside however....

"It sounds vulgar if you ask me..."

Yup they actually got the name wrong.. which is the case with most Ang Mohs here coz of the confusion with Chinese last names... haha..

Oh ya... last but not least... the photo database here is quite shen... totally unlike PwC's miao miao deformed pictures which can make a Babe look like a Dude... or even the other way round.. hahaha... here's mine...

As you can see my hair is still standing as tall as ever... some things will never change.... :)

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!!

Last night in Chicago....

Guess what I found out today? The hotel room I’m staying in is actually a suite. Wow! No wonder it costs US$425 per night. Luckily I don’t have to pay for a single cent. It’s ridiculously expensive. And you know what? Most Americans have not heard of the Conrad before! When I said I am putting up at Conrad, they will go huh?!! The first time it happened, I thought it was my lousy pronunciation. Apparently, they have totally no idea that it’s a 5 * hotel (Do I have to keep repeating it’s a 5* hotel. Keke…)

But even a 5* hotel has its fault. The toilet couldn’t be flushed properly today and I had to get the “engineer” to fix it. At least that’s what the operator called the plumber. My mum can be an engineer too! Talk about euphemism. Hahaha..

Today I had dinner at this posh Latin American restaurant. Check out the website : www.carnivalechicago.com It was a typical American dinner where one has to mingle around, make small talk while the food took forever to be served. Being super tao or rather unsociable, I sat at my table the entire night talking to only the people from Houston. There were people from all over America yet I only talked to people from my office. Oh my, I got to improve man.

Tonight is the last night I am in Chicago and yet I haven’t got a chance to shop. Not that I am a shopaholic but at least I must walk around a bit since I am staying within the shopping belt ya? What a waste! Thought I could buy a Coach handbag or something. Argh… (Tim, do you get the hint???? At least it’s not a Christian Dior!!! Oops, hope Rey is not reading this.)

Hey, not bad ya? I am already into my 2nd entry. Hope the entries will keep flowing even when I am back in Houston. Till the next time…..

CAMEO!!

I am happily typing away in the comfort of my 5* hotel. Yes, I am now in Conrad! And they provide Molten Brown bathing products! But then it’s still not as good as the suite in Ritz Carlton right, Tim?!! Furthermore, it has no view to speak of.

Hi everyone, I am Sharon, the guest writer for this week. Hope this will not be my first and last entry. Timothy has been asking me since I dunno when to write in his blog. But being a procrastinator, I finally got down to doing it tonight just because I am all alone in the hotel room with nothing much to do.

Right now, I’m in Chicago for my transfer pricing training. Oh my, the class is really boring. I could have just slept if we were not seated around a table where everyone can see what everyone is doing. And Ang Mos are really more proactive and participative.

Chicago is a beautiful city, definitely much nicer than Houston which is boring. The skyline is fantastic. And there are just so much more things to see compared to Houston even though it’s the winter. (Around 1-2 degree celsius today). It looks more like the America I see on TV.

Guess what? The EY Chicago office is right in the Sears Tower (The third highest building in the world. It was first until it was overtaken by Petronas and Taipei 101). Went up to the 66th floor today for a buffet lunch and the view of Lake Michigan is awesome.

Raymond, a classmate I have never kept in contact since he moved to Chicago 10 years ago, brought me around the city. Went to the navy pier, Millennia Park, Chinatown, look at the night skyline of Chicago… I even sat on a bus and took the subway. I would probably have just walked in the mall if not for him. A very big Thank You Ray if you are reading this.

And yes, now I think our MRT and buses in Singapore are excellent. No complains. The subways (also known as the L) are super noisy and they aint exactly new. The underpass to the subway is also dark and old. As for the bus, it’s not very high tech considering that you have to push the door yourself when alighting. Yes, It doesn’t open automatically! Not something I would expect from America especially in Chicago. Think the Taiwan MRT is even nicer and better. Or maybe I haven’t seen the world enough yet.

Although I have taken some pictures (less than 10), they didn’t turn out well since I have taken them all at night. And the battery is running low even though that dumb dumb Tim told me that it can last my entire trip. I asked him to check on the night before I left. And it runs out so fast. Like my ex-AM always says, “Trust no one”. Next time I should just check it myself.

Alrighty, that’s all for now. Hope you find it interesting enough that you will want me to contribute another entry soon.

I'm dreaming.....

of a white...... NEW YEAR?!?!

Yes... here i am, surrounded by snow.... everything around me covered in white.... and i sure as hell ain't in Houston!! For your information, i am in New Hampshire now... in a little town called Portsmouth (am i in England??), an hour North of Boston.

This is my first real working day in 3 months (yes... REAL... since October if you can recall correctly), the temperature is almost -10 degrees Celsius (12 degrees fahrenheit), and i am feeling so cold and alone.... Brrrr!!!! My very first audit job in EY Houston has brought me to this quaint little town to audit a "rubbish" company.. and sure as hell it's kinda crap for now... especially since we're probably gonna work till 8 everyday and Saturday is almost burnt!!

"The neatest hotel room you'll ever see."

On the plus side though, i get to play with snow (when i'm not thinking about numbers that is) and experience life in 0-degrees weather!! Woohoo!! Now, i can truly be considered the cold-blooded one amongst my friends... and NO it don't matter if i'm wearing 3 layers of clothing!

I have to say though, it's finally great to hit the ground running and really get busy working instead of bumming around and getting paid.... which was.. erm.. the case for the past month or so... hahaha. Sharon has also started in her new job, which is gonna take her to Chicago on the 24th of this month for a course on International Transfer Pricing... cool stuff!! Especially coz it's gonna be just as cold there.. hehe...

Anyway, just wanna let you guys know that we're fine man... Wen is in Phoenix, Celia is in Kansas, Serene is in Atlanta, and the rest of the slackers are helping to keep my lonely girlfriend company. BTW, she's reached a milestone today... she drove in a car, ALONE, for the very very FIRST TIME!!! Amazingly, everything went by with no problems... probably coz i gave her shen directions... hahaha... i'll be looking forward to seeing her drive me around in my new Passat once i'm back man... :P

That's all the updates i have for now then.. a chilly farewell and Happy New Year to all of you!!
