A Knight to Remember....

Man United beat Lyon 2-1 yesterday with goals from Gary Nev and Ruud to send United into the knockout stages in the Champions' League... but more significantly, this was Sir Alex Ferguson's 1,000th game in charge of this brilliant team!!

"Knight in shining RED armour"

It was a fitting tribute to him and to me, the greatest thing that happened to United wasn't Cantona, wasn't Schmeichel, wasn't Giggs, but in fact it was down to the gaffer himself... Fergie. Think about it, when he came in 1986, United were popular but were only pretenders in the Football League. We had players with quality but never enough to win anything. Well in less than a decade, he has turned the club's fortunes around... winning everything in sight, and never losing the desire to win more, even now.

I for one, am really grateful that Sir Alex signed on that night in November 1986, and i will never forget how much he has done for the club we all love! For all you Red Devil fans out there who have been slamming him for any reason whatsoever, please remember what he's achieved before you slag him off. He's in a class of his own and no one... and i mean NO ONE... holds a candle to him. May the force of the Red Army always be with Fergie!

Congrats to you on your millenium game Sir Alex!!!

Incredulous!!!

One of the better things that happened to me over the weekend, was watching The Incredibles with Sharon at midnight on Friday!! Heard alot about the movie from friends saying about how good it was and i decided to go and catch it then before i learn of any SPOILERS.. (u know who u are people....)

Anyway, i must say that the movie was nothing short of excellent!! Ok it may be an animation film, but i'm telling you, this movie caters more to the older and wiser population than to the young kiddies who love boring kid films like the recent Shark's Tale. Why do i say that?? Well it's coz this movie is so full of wit and humour that stems from the brain of the Simpsons, where intellectual humour is the way to go rather than slapstick, in-your-face humour.

The movie is about Superheroes... yes the world is full of them.... who all have secret identities and we are shown that even people like them, have to struggle with real-life situations, such as growing up, going through mid-life crises, and working hard to maintain a normal family. Of course, the protagonist in this show is Mr Incredible, but i ain't gonna tell you anymore until you catch it, coz there's so many funny moments in the show that you'll enjoy even more if you don't know what's about to happen! (hence my hatred for SPOILERS!!)

Several things make this show tick. first of all the humour as mentioned earlier, and this is all down to the writer, Brad Bird, who pens episodes for The Simpsons, which explains his knack for good intelligent comic timing. Funnily enough though, i've heard of a few people who don't find The Incredibles funny and apparently, they prefer less brainy comedies like Shark's Tale.... well these are the same people who can never find The Simpsons funny, and they really don't know what they're missing!!

Another key thing i liked about the film was the interesting and eccentric characters that appear throughout the film... no i'm not talking about the Incredibles family, but rather the other pivotal people in the movie, my favorite being Frozone, but i'm not telling anything so you'll find out for yourself and know what i mean....

"A splitting image of Samuel L. Jackson"

Compared to Shark's Tale, this film had lesser known stars doing the voiceovers, but i must say they've done a brilliant job bringing the characters to life! Especially Holly Hunter, who makes Mrs Incredible sound soooo credible and sassy, and Samuel L. Jackson, who does an unbelievable job with Frozone!

All in all i guess there's only one word to describe this film.. (yea yea i know its cliched...) INCREDIBLE!!!

"We are Family......"

Tim's Movie Rating - The Incredibles ====> 4.5/5
Excellent animated film from Pixar again. Seems they can't ever go wrong with their pick of original stories. You can be prepared for a barrel of laughs from the film, with many action sequences that are bound to keep your eyes glued to the screen (or TV if u buy the pirated DVD you pirate...). Every moment in the show is interesting and there's never a dull moment. Well worth your $8.50 so catch it soon and enjoy the ride!!

Beware of the dog.

Isabelle's been acting up lately, and Sharon has been feeling the brunt of it. It's not just the sharp nails that scratch you everytime she jumps like you like a berzerk pup... but it goes much much worse than that:

Charles and Keith never thought of dog-proof shoes

Yes she killed the Charles & Keiths. Her beloved Charles & Keiths. A pair which Sharon loved, a pair which she used for less than 1o times, and a pair which she'll never see again. Now i'm sure guys out there (including me), must be thinking: Why kick up such a fuss? Buy a new pair can liao.....

But you guys out there will never know how a girl feels... about her Charles & Keiths.

Keep your distance.

Amazingly i'm still alive despite that murderous look on Sharon. Anyway we've reprimanded Isabelle by... errr... feeding her less to pay for a new pair of shoes for Sharon..... but on the bright side, i'm really pleased to see Sharon getting along really well with Isabelle. She was never ever this close to Belle but seeing her play and talk with Isa, really warms my heart. Maybe she's got a hidden fondness for dogs? Maybe that's why i'm her boyfriend? Hmmm....

Good Luck, Bad Luck

Good Luck

Had any luck lately? Been feeling lucky? Think you're going to strike it big in the next 4D, Toto, or God forbid... Singapore Sweep?!?! Well i did have my fair share of luck last week... kind of. Below is the amazing lottery ticket that i bought.

Lucky Numbers.

Now. Before you go around saying "Tim got lucky again!!" and all that, you must know this. First of all, it came out as a Starter Prize.. which means i win the grand total of............. $180. Secondly, the reason i bought these 4 numbers, was because a certain Diving Cow asked me to buy for him just before he left for a diving trip.

If you were in my shoes now, what would you do, when you logged on to www.singaporepools.com and realised that hey! You have a winning ticket in your hands!!! What would YOU do???

A) Collect the winnings, pocket them all for yourself, and tell your friend that you forgot or didn't have time to buy the ticket. After all, you paid for it yourself, and it's YOUR money on the line.

or;

B) Keep the ticket. Resist all temptations to collect a free, i stress, FREE 180 bugs, let your nice little friend know that his numbers came out, and wait for him to come back before passing the lucky ticket to him.

Being the dumbass that i am, i chose.............*drumroll*............ B). Since Diving Cow is my good buddy (especially now of course), i just wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that i cheated him of.... $180. Anyways as of now, the ticket's still with me, and i'll be passing it to him soon. I never expect a reward in return but then again, i dinner treat which he promised me DOES sound nice. Coca leh......

Bad Luck

Of course, with every little bit of good luck, you're also bound to come up with a bit of the bad every now and then. This past week has seen more of the bad for me and i really wonder why.

It all started on Tuesday, when i took a cab with my team to the Client's place all the way in Tuas. Coming out of the cab, the first step i took was on a big... piece of............ SHIT. Totally fresh and complete with flies and stuff... argh..... To top it all off, was the irony that this client deals with.... WASTE MANAGEMENT. Anyway i seriously thought my favorite Scholl shoes were dead from that moment on. Luckily enough i plucked up enough courage to go to the nearest toilet and spent 15 mins just cleaning my shoe. Oh yea i even managed to meet the client for intro before doing that. Talk about amazing.

It didn't end there of course.... yesterday was my Golden Village free movie day and i remembered to bring my membership card (unlike 2 weeks ago). However, when Sharon and i were about to go home, i realised i couldn't find my parking ticket!! We searched high and low and realised there was no way out except to report my lost ticket. Worse was to come however, coz when i intercommed the friendly parking lady, she said i had to pay 20 bugs thru the auto pay machine, and i had only 5 with me!!! Sharon had nothing in her wallet too... and my coins in the car only amounted to a plate of chicken rice.

In the end, i had to take the looooong walk to Esplanade to draw money, then take another loooooong walk back... to pay the daaaaaaaaamn 20 bug ticket. Haiz.

Life CAN kick you in the teeth every now and then to remind you not to take things for granted... even for me. So always be prepared.... especially if you help a friend win 4D. Grrr.

Hair today, gone tomorrow....

Had a haircut a few days ago and decided to go for a cheap one. Cheap as in $10 compared to the $20+ i normally pay for the Lao Chio at J-Salon, Annie. Thought that since my hair is short and grows fast, i should try cutting at cheaper places and only go back to J-Salon when i need to get a dye. Anyway, since today's a really nice day, and i have lots of time on my hands, i thought i'd go through some of my photo albums and check out what kinda hairstyles i've had over the years.

Take a stroll down memory lane with me then.... with all my hairdoes and hair-don'ts!!!!

Singapore Idle

Yes the time has come.... by the end of the week we'll be left with only 4 of the Singapore Idol contestants, but first, tomorrow's performance show!! Who'll perform on the night? Who'll put up a stinker? Who'll wow the crowds? Who'll bore the crowds??? Well everyone has their own favorite.... and so do i, so here's my own personal lowdown on the finalists and their chances of making it as the inaugural Singapore Idol....

Daphne Khoo

Ha!! The "Mickey Mouse Club" girl who looks like she's joining a teen talentime contest instead of Singapore Idol!! Never really thought any good of her in the beginning, especially with her childish mannerisms and voice, but she's been improving and has been winning some people over during the past few weeks. Still, i think she doesn't have enough in her to pull it off, and will be one of the strongest contenders to be knocked out tomorrow.

Tim's Idol Rating: 4/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Leandra Veronica Rasiah

The girl who has a voice like Vanessa Carlton's, whom i really enjoy listening to alot. I remember Leandra being one of the strongest contestants at the start when she wowed everyone with her high-pitched yet crystal clear voice, but the last few weeks have seen her performances dipping and dipping with an unexplained lack of confidence. If she doesn't start wowing the audiences again soon, she'll be given the boot!!

Tim's Idol Rating: 4/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Taufik Bin Batisah

Here's a really hip guy who can really jive and sing! Thought he got a bit lucky after a wussy rendition of My Girl which got him his place in the finals, but since then he's been a bag full of energy. Great performances have earned him a following (especially the Muslim population!!), but he seems to be more of an Impressionist than a performer.... being able to imitate artistes rather than showcasing his own personal talent. Do you concur??

Tim's Idol Rating: 6.5/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Olinda Cho

The tomboy who's got a voice like a tenor's!!! Easily the most talented of the bunch in my opinion, and whether she wins it or not will depend on how she wins over the fans. She's never disappointed in all of her performances, but i'm not sure if she has as many people rooting for her as she deserves. What she's gotta do, is reach out to the masses in some way or another... show some star appeal... and i'm sure she'd make a great Singapore Idol then!

Tim's Idol Rating: 7.5/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Sylvester Sim

The definite fan favorite among the 5 finalists at the moment. This dude has got a huge fan base and i really think it's down to his killer looks (vampire-face), killer voice (Mick Jagger-ish), and killer style. Anyway Sylvester here really knows how to please and tease the fans, and make 'em begging for more, and if this is not Singapore Idol material then i dunno what is!! His voice is only better than average though, better than alot of the contestants but not at a professional level as yet, and his apparent inflexibility (only ROCK!!) might work against him, but at the moment he's way ahead of the rest.

Tim's Idol Rating: 7.5/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So... looking at these finalists... who will be your favorite?? I have to be honest and say that i lost quite a bit of interest after my Hot Mama Maia was knocked out a few weeks ago... haiz... but my money would be on Olinda or Sylvester man. Here's to a great show tomorrow!!

PS: On a side note, the US Presidential elections were on today. Would you vote for Kerry? Bush? Or Sylvester?

Another hole in my pocket.

It had to be done. I had no choice. It was calling out to me. The signs were all there. I couldn't resist it. There was no other way out for me.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-P100.

$620 out from my pay for this month. No excooses. Anyone wanna treat me to breakfast, lunch or dinner sometime soon? Will promise to take a free picture of you. :)
