CHAO GENG SINGAPOREANS!!

Sunday Nite while on MSN

Neo Aik Jin aka Niu Ai Jin: Hey, I am gonna Chao Geng tomorrow. Will let you know if I’m cooking dinner.

Sharpie aka Babe: What?!! Chao Geng AGAIN!! Shiok lei…Ok, ok. Let me know if you are cooking.

Monday Morning @ 9am

Timothy aka Timonkey: WAKE UP!! IT'S 9 O'CLOCK!!!

Babe: Huh?!! What 9 o’clock?!!! I woke up long ago but never hear the alarm. So I tot it’s only 7.15 that’s why I refused to wake up even though I wanted so badly to go toilet. I just wanna squeeze in a few more minutes of sleep.

Timonkey: Same here. I refused to wake up cos I never hear the alarm. U sure u never hear the alarm? I remembered distinctively setting the alarm clock.

The silver couple hurried to wash up to get ready for work when Babe said,I think we shouldn’t go to work today. By the time we reach office, it will be 1030. What should we tell the managers? Can’t possibly tell them we woke up late, right? It will reflect so badly on us.”

Timonkey: Hmm…. I guess so. Okie, we dun go office today then. Let’s call Niu. Jio him go out to paarrrty…

Ring, ring…

Timonkey and Babe: Hello fellow Chao Genger. We woke up late and decided not to go to work. Yeah!

Niu: What?!! Very well, let’s go out!

Timonkey and Babe: Let’s have a movie marathon. Go online to check out the showtimes.

Hung up phone and switched on MSN chat with the following participants:

Timonkey
Babe
Niu
Chris Q aka Blackie
Peiwen aka Milan Baros

Blackie: Yoyo, check check, black, black. Why are all of you online together?

Niu: Who Chao Geng today? Raise your hands? “Hands up”
Timonkey: “Hands up”
Babe: “Both Hands up”

Blackie: Wave your hands in the air, like you just dun care…

Blackie & Milan were totally unimpressed with this bunch of Chao Geng Singaporeans.

Babe: If only Marvin and Celia are in this chat. It will be perfect. Oh btw, where’s Tzeying?

Meanwhile, Niu added Tzeying aka Zing who was working hard at her client’s office to the chat.

Zing: BO JIO LOR! BO JIO LOR! BO JIO LOR! BO JIO LOR! BO JIO LOR! CHAO GENG BO JIO LOR!!

Unable to come up with a consensus of whether to watch movie (Niu was scared he will have to kui4 liu2 lian2 for going to watch movie without Zing), all of them left the chat. Babe went back to bed. Timonkey followed shortly. Suddenly, the phone rang….

Timonkey: Ya, I’m at home. How you know? Are you at client’s place?

Marvin Thong aka Che Shen (loosely translated as God of cars): I am standing at our garage and saw both your cars there. Why you all never go to work?

Timonkey: Huh? Why are you at the garage?

Che Shen: Cos Ms Piggy (Celia) and I never go to work. We woke up and decided both of us have migraine today.

Timonkey and Babe: WHAT?!! U two also CHAO GENG?!!! What are the chances? Who will believe it! Really a coincidence! Let’s call Niu now to tell him the GOOD NEWS!

After 5 mins of discussion, Timonkey, Babe, Niu, Che Shen and Ms Piggy happily went to watch 2 movies on a lazy Monday afternoon while the rest of the world worked….

How are ya doin'???

Hey!!! How're ya doin'????

That's the first line you hear from almost EVERYONE in Houston.... no little HIs, no simple Hellos, but a HOW ARE YOU DOING..... to which i have to think up a new way of saying "I'm Fine" everytime!! Sometime's I'm doing great, sometimes I'm excellent, sometimes I'm good... well.... you catch my drift. This is one of the most obvious things you notice about people around here and it's way, waaaaaay different from back home when people don't even give a hoot about your life!!

But anyway, yea... how've you been doing? Hahah... it's been some time since i last updated my blog and that's coz we've been busy having fun!! (and working sometimes of coz....)

Just 2 weeks ago, we went for our first Rodeo!! It's a Texan thing whereby loads and loads of people gather at Reliant Stadium to watch cowboys... yes REAL cowboys (and cowgirls.. woohoo!) take on bulls, ride horses, throw lassoes just like in the movies, and all that jazz! Interesting stuff we saw at the Rodeo were:

1) The Barrel Race - Whereby a girl rides a horse at high speed and guides it around 3 different barrels at different locations before running back. Timing is taken and the fastest wins. Believe it or not the fastest on the night was a 62-yr-old lady!!

2) Bull Riding - As you see on TV, brave men will try to stay on bulls (who aren't too happy that their testicles are being electrocuted btw) for more than 8 seconds, after which judges will give points based on style, skill, and the ability to NOT get injured.

3) Calf Scramble - A bunch of young high schoolers in the field are unleashed on a herd of cattle, with a $1,000 reward for anyone who manages to hold on to one of these hapless things. Trust me the high schoolers were the only animals on the field during this event.

There's many many more but i guess these were the more interesting ones. Do log on to the Houston Rodeo Website for more details and let me know if you wanna have a look at some of the videos!

"Wee Xi and Eddie... having fun with the food!!"

"Reliant Stadium. The biggest one i've ever been to...."

After the Rodeo, i managed to watch my SECOND concert in Houston.... and this time, it was MAROON 5!! Yup I'm sure you've all heard of em coz they were always on the radio back in Singapore!

"Great lighting... notice there are NO maroon colours though... haha"

Anyway, the concert was a decent one... although they did have a bit of trouble getting the audience to interact, except for this one moment when the guitarist had a rush of blood to the head and decided to run a big round around the stadium (and like i said, it's BIG) while STILL playing his guitar, drawing huge cheers from everyone. It wasn't quite as power a performance as my Coldplay the other night, but they were pretty decent... and of coz we all sang along with She Will Be Loved and This Love.

"Crooning away...."

It was quite an interesting experience and it was fun for us too.. knowing that this Rodeo thing is an annual event.... i think we'll be prepared in our cowboy and cowgirl attire for next year in fact... almost EVERYONE was dressed in that during the show!

"Singapore cowgirls!!"

Alrighty then that's all for now... for those of you who wanna check out my Houston pics for the first 3 months, click on this link!

Beetle juice

GE WEI GUAN ZHONG (Ladies & Gentlemen), presenting “drum roll, drum roll, drum roll…..” My Volkswagen New Beetle!!!

Ain't she chio? She is a babe just like her owner.

Yeah!! I finally found my dream car after such a long and tedious search! Okie Tim, I know it is not as bad as yours but still it was a huge headache having to look at the various autocar websites day in day out. And since the beetle is under your name (I put it under his name to save on insurance), if you really run away with it, I will be left with "no money, no honey and no lady!" Yes, since Tim is calling his sillycar, Sally (Celi), I have christened my bug, “The Lady”.

And from today onwards, the Brilliant Duo shall be known as the Silver Couple too!!
